LOS ANGELES--At last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the biggest news out of Microsoft's media briefing was that Square Enix was bringing the next installment of its longtime Sony-exclusive Final Fantasy series to the Xbox 360 simultaneously with the PlayStation 3.

E3 2009: Hours before its press event, Electronic Arts announces that German developer Crytek is finally bringing its cutting-edge graphics shooter series to consoles.

LOS ANGELES--After years of hints and tech-demo teases, the Crysis series is finally headed to consoles. This morning, Electronic Arts and German developer Crytek announced the development of Crysis 2 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game will be the first console title that the notoriously PC-centric studio will develop directly for consoles, having let Ubisoft develop the console spin-offs for its groundbreaking 2004 first-person shooter Far Cry. Ubisoft bought the Far Cry IP outright in 2006. No release date was given.

 

Wolfenstein blitzes stores August 4

Activision today announced that the revamp of Wolfenstein is set for an August 4 release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Developed by Raven Software (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Singularity), Wolfenstein drops players into the army boots of B.J. Blazkowicz, who is once again sent behind enemy lines to thwart Hitler's occult ambitions. For this go-around, players will be able to fight fire with fire, using the power of a sought-after artifact to combat Hitler's own freakish army of evil.

Activision signs on hip-hop royalty for in-game mixes, postrelease DLC for FreeStyleGames' turntable-equipped 360, PS3, PS2, Wii rhythm game; special edition revealed.

Earlier this month, Activision officially confirmed DJ Hero, the latest spin-off of its rhythm-game franchise, which ditches the guitar and melodic rock in favor of a turntable and scratch-heavy beats.
